Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) will not now take control of Plymouth's council homes on the 19th October.

By mutual agreement, PCH and the Council have decided to put the date back to the 16th November, owing to the financial and legal complexities that are taking longer than envisaged to resolve.

Rent Reduction confirmed for August PDF Print E-mail

Thursday, 06 August 2009

Plymouth’s council tenants are to receive a rent and service charge reduction during the period 10th August – 6th September. The total saving for tenants will amount to the equivalent of a rent-free week.

As previously reported, this rent reduction was prompted by the availability of a government handout to councils to help their tenants during the economic downturn. While other councils have been able to reduce the weekly rent level, Plymouth has opted for a different approach because the stock will be transferring halfway through the financial year (October).

The rent reduction will not affect tenants on Housing Benefit.
